Taming of Dragon

Ever since atiquity – it has been difficult for outsiders to deal with Beijing… its erstwhile emperors and it present communist leaders all have had a strange vision – to enslave the world. Its own population shares the vision in a starnger way – we ourselves are slaves – and now we need to enslave rest of world.

To put it openly every country in Asia wants good, strong relations with China. But just not on Beijing’s terms. In this pretext Indo-Japan-US met – and never discussed China. All they discussed was the security in the Pacific.

While Indian media choose to remain largely dismissive, political leadership more concerned about a stupid lokpal, great Indian Foreign Service successfully engaged world in historical changes.

South China sea can flare up any time involving much of South East Asia and China. US remains worried for trade disruptions and has successfully roped in Australia for help – but the game changers are the Indians. Never in last two centuries India has taken active part in the region (not counting INA) and then using India as a shield to reintroduce Japan into active (potential) wartime duties is a game changer. Just bout 60 years ago Japanese navy hammered the entire region – today its swearing to protect. Getting Japanese back into action will not go easy with any one in the region. But using India is a different game altogether. US got it right.

Kudos to India Foreign Ministry (not including the Minister though) to have pulled something so emphatic. A leverage of this sort has the potential to bring Chinese back to table. Their impunity in dealing with India cannot go unnoticed forever.

However these dealings are bound to create problems with Russia. Hope MMS settled that last week.
